THINKING OF A CAREER IN THE SPORTS FIELD?
Well I think the first thing we think of is becoming a Pro player.

But if you don’t make the cut don’t give up something you love. Keep going there are plenty of positions open behind the scenes

Some of these positions may involve:

Broadcasting

Sports marketing

Fitness and wellness

Administration and the lists continue on.

It is a fast expanding market place and required knowledgeable people and special talents.

SOME HELPFUL POINTS:

Continue your education gearing it towards at least a Bachelor’s Degree and preferably a Master’s Degree.

This may open many additional opportunities for you in the future and while you are still in the processes of completing your degree programs.

Set yourself up a “study budget” as you can get some great education on line with out to much money. Start networking, find people in the field and connect with them. Pick their brains.

Get a feel for all aspects of the industry and then fine tune your studies to help you access a majority of them. Many of these positions involve some type of “management” skills, i.e activities and gear managers. Seasonal sports management is often forgotten but it will at least get your foot in the door.

OK, so why the higher education. Most of the time as a manager you will be responsible for the team’s equipment inventories and their equipment budgets. These positions are sometimes available in your local sports club or favorite resorts

In and outdoor sports are not only fun but they pay well also.

You can search the web for most of these positions and get an idea of the starting salaries and what you need to get your foot in the door.

Remember one thing.

Don’t be afraid to start at the bottom of the cup…. Cream always rises to the top

Best of Luck
